What is a Coach?

The fact is, the term “coach” is a lot like a “doctor” – it can mean a whole range of things, depending on who’s saying it. The International Coach Federation states:

Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their performance and enhance the quality of their lives.

Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources and creativity that the client already has.

In other words, coaches help draw people out so that they can develop and implement better, more creative options for achieving and exceeding their goals.

 What is Christian Life Coaching?

First, Personal and Professional Coaching is quickly becoming one of the leading tools that people use to become successful and live extraordinary lives. Christian Life Coaching is a niche of coaching that people use to become successful and live extraordinary lives.  It involves a dynamic collaborative relationship with someone who accepts nothing but your best and who will advise you, guide you and encourage you to go beyond self-imposed limitations in order to realize your God-given full potential.

Think of the Olympic Athletes. The most successful and powerful athletes in the world - because of coaching! The coach gives them the edge to go for the gold. The coach provides an outside perspective while keeping the athlete focused on his or her goal.

The same can happen for you! A coach can point out things that you don't see and give you ideas on how to improve your performance while simultaneously keeping you accountable and motivated to be your absolute best.

Coaching challenges you to go beyond where you normally stop. A Coach helps you to tap into your greatness and enables you to share it with the world.

Can you imagine how much more productive, successful and exciting your life can be? You don't have to imagine anymore! Coaching, formerly available only to CEO's, top executives and athletes, is now available for anyone who dares to live his or her dreams.
What are you waiting for? Now is the time to create the life you always wanted!

Through weekly coaching sessions, I will help you identify what is most important to you and align your thoughts, words and actions accordingly. As your coach, I work with you to identify what you want spiritually, physically, personally or professionally, and support you in achieving a life that you really want and love. Having a life you love starts with gaining clarity on what’s important, enabling choices that reflect this meaning and then, while being consistently in action to bring it all about. Your commitment to your life and to God’s grace made possible through coaching offers you a means for more balance, joy, intimacy, energy, abundance, focus and action in every area of your life.

What are you waiting for?  Now is the time to create the life you always wanted!

Why is Coaching Becoming So Popular?

Coaching is becoming popular for several reasons: Many people are tired of doing what they “should” do and are ready to do something special and meaningful for the rest of their lives. Problem is, many can’t see it. Of if they can, they can’t see a way to reorient their life around it.

A coach can help them do both. People are realizing how simple it can be to accomplish something that several years ago might have felt out of reach or like a pipedream. A coach is not a miracle worker but does have a large tool kit to help the Potential become a Reality.

Fortunately, people now have time and resources to invest in themselves and in this kind of growth.

How is Coaching Different From Therapy or Consulting?

Coaching is not therapy, which goes into depth on various issues that usually deal with the past. I do not look so much into the past as I help you look forward in order to set personal and professional goals that will give you the life you really want.

Coaching is a form of consulting. Like a consultant, a coach helps you solve problems, reach goals, design a plan of action, and make decisions. But unlike a consultant, a coach is so much more. As your coach I “stay with you” to:

  • Implement a plan of action and work through any inevitable changes and obstacles
  • Maintain a healthy balance in your life
  • Keep looking ahead to take advantage of opportunities which are just now formulating
  • Bring out your personal best while keeping you focused on your needs, values and vision

All coaches are consultants; few consultants are coaches.

Does the Coach Work on Personal Goals or Business/Professional Goals? Spiritual Goals or Physical Goals?

All of the above, actually. And with the lines between personal, business, spiritual and physical life blurring in the 90s, the coach is the only professional trained to work on all aspects of you.  These aspects of life are all directly connected.  To work on one, directly affects the others.  It is completely up to the client which area or areas we focus on.

How Do I Know Whether I Will Benefit From Working with a Coach?

Coaching is proven to work when two factors are present:

  • The client is willing to learn, grow, and take action.
  • There is a gap between where he/she is now and where he/she wants to be.

That’s all that is necessary for a successful coaching relationship. It's all you need to develop the right strategy, implement a plan of action, and achieve your goals. Anything is possible within a coaching relationship.

What Difference Can A Coach Make in my Life?

With a coach you can:

Take More, Better, and Smarter Actions.  Our first task together is to find out exactly what you really want for yourself. Once you create objectives that are clearly in line with your personal values and professional vision, you are much more likely to take actions to reach them naturally and consistently.

Have A Balanced Life, Which Works Well.  Professional success is maximized when you enjoy a sense of personal fulfillment and life balance. We will discuss how to be “responsibly self-centered.” You will learn how to carve out enough time so that your life outside of work is exactly the way you want it to be.

Make Better Decisions.  I will help you become focused as you share ideas with me. I will understand you and be subjective enough to want to be biased or self-serving. You’ll also find that just talking about your options with someone who really listens is often enough to clarify things.

Reach For More — Much More.  When you have a partner you trust, you will reach for much more because you can afford to. Are you ready to think big and really live your life fully? As your partner I will help you to take your life wherever you want it to go.

Have More Sustainable Energy.  Together we will identify the things that drain your energy, and we'll create a long-term strategy to eliminate them. In addition, we’ll focus on the things that give you energy, and explore how to maximize their impact. When you're happy, productive, and free from tolerations and problems, life is a lot more fun!

Coaching is Serious, How Can I Get the Most from Coaching?

I want you to benefit greatly from our coaching calls and the time between our calls. Here are some of the things you can do to maximize the value of your coaching experience.

  • Focus On What You Really Want, What You Think God is Telling or Showing You. Coaching works best when you have clear goals that are based on your true values. First, I encourage you to deeply consider what you want your life to look like. Then, identify the gaps between the way things are now and how you would like them to be. Many people struggle with this, so if you are unsure about what it is you really want to achieve, coaching is an excellent tool that can provide you with greater clarity.
  • Get To Know Yourself Newly. Working with a sensitive and empathic coach is a healthy way to grow. Most clients hire a coach to work on specific goals, and much of the time focus on these objectives. Yet, with coaching, many clients discover new parts of themselves, and find they can adjust their goals to be more in alignment with who they really are. This discovery process is natural, and you do not need to concentrate on it, just realize it will likely happen. Accelerated personal growth is the hallmark of coaching.
  • Double Your Level Of Willingness. Part of working with me as your coach is that I will ask a lot of you. Not too much, but perhaps more than you may have been asked recently. I request that you be willing to experiment with fresh approaches, particularly if what you have been doing all along continues to not work. I will invite you to tell the absolute truth, raise your personal standards, and set higher goals. Ultimately, you need to decide what is best for you; however, the more willing you are to grow, the greater the benefits from coaching.
  • Come Prepared To Each Coaching Call. To get the most value out of the coaching session, I request that you do two things. One, prepare a written agenda for each call. Many of my clients use the provided “Confidential Coaching Client Prep Form.” This does not have to be a big, time-consuming event, but usually requires only 10-20 minutes both in the preparation and sending. Second, I want you to prepare for our session by spending at least 10 minutes in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to illumine both our minds. I will be doing the same thing. Investing this small amount of preparation time for the call will have a huge impact on our session.
  • Do Your Homework . Each week you will decide on the actions or goals on which you wish to focus. I will work with you to make sure you are setting worthwhile, realistic and achievable objectives. And since I know that a busy week lies ahead, your homework might be as simple as thinking about a new perspective. If you have more time, you may decide to handle a bigger task. Regardless, I will hold you accountable and encourage you to do your best.

Are you up to the challenge of creating the life you love?

Why should I choose Kimberly Dinsdale as my coach?

As a Christian Woman, I wish to work without concern for New Age Philosophies and Political Correctness. I wish to coach in integrity – by speaking about God and His Grace, His Mercy, His Power.  Period.

I trust that Christian Coaching is the place for me, a real calling from God. Through Christian Coaching, I give my clients opportunities to become more fully alive as they discover, grow and develop in the life God has created for them. Asking for God’s grace and allowing God to work through my coaching has brought about remarkable results for my clients.

How Do You Coach Your Clients?

As your coach, I will inquire, encourage, advise, challenge, make requests, and listen for what’s important to you, and then help you remain aligned with who you are, your goals, your values, and your vision. My focus will be completely on you and what you want in life; I stand for you first and foremost, not just your goals. The coaching relationship is designed by both of us, and may be refined through ongoing two-way feedback. Even though we are committed to the journey, ultimately, you will be responsible for actions taken (or not taken) in your life throughout the process.

I Expect Your Best.  We should only be working together if you are ready to do and be your best. If you are not doing your best, I will ask you to do so. If you cannot be your best at the moment, I will understand and do what I can so that you can be heard, loved, and set back on your path.

I Make Specific Requests.  From time to time, I will make direct requests, such as "Will you accomplish X by the end of the month?” You may accept the request, counter-offer (e.g.: “I can’t do X, but I can do Y”) or decline (rare). I will always support you, whichever way you respond.

I Give Advice.  When I am sure of the situation, and you are open to it, I will make specific suggestions on how to handle a problem or go for an opportunity. If I am not sure, I will say so. Regardless, I will trust you to use the best of what we say and to use your own judgment.

I Am Direct.  When I hear a funny tone in your voice or notice something amiss, I will ask you about it. Often, it is these small moments that offer the chance to resolve something. However, I will not confront you; I will merely invite you to take a closer look.

I Give Homework.  Typically, I will ask you to determine two or three goals or actions to focus on between our calls. If I am pushing you too much, say so. If you want to be pushed harder, just ask.

I Am Here for You.  I want to hear it all. If you have a personal problem, are upset with something (even if it's me or the coaching), if you are just starting to realize something big, or can't wait to share a breakthrough, please call or e-mail me — anytime.

Who Are the Christian Women who Work With Me?

I work with women who are no longer willing:

  • to settle for less than God has planned for their lives
  • to feel isolated and desperate in their spiritually unequal marriage
  • to tolerate loneliness or pain without or within relationships
  • to endure overwhelming and unbalanced lives
  • to move through life without the skills and confidence necessary to be the best character-filled parents and community leaders.
  • to struggle with lifeless or frustrating careers

Likewise, I help women who are no longer willing to accept a shallow faith, directionless life or relationship with Jesus Christ that has little to no personal intimacy. They know there is more, and they want it!

All of my clients have one thing in common: they are successful, resourceful, and intelligent individuals who want more out of their lives. They come to me for our shared faith, encouragement, greater challenge, accountability, and faster achievement. They want God’s Loving Plan of mercy, abundance, character, leadership, purpose and direction realized more fully in their lives. And without exception they accept “their” role in helping to bring this plan about.

What Coaching Approach do you take as a Christian Coach for Women?

I am a believing baptized born-again Christian. I believe Christ speaks today through His Word. I am convinced that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Through Scripture, we receive insight into God’s love for us, as well as what He wants for us and how He wants us to respond to His goodness.

In my coaching, I seek the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in helping me to work effectively with each of my clients. I take each of them to prayer daily and by name. I discuss each client’s situation with the Lord.

What if I am not a Christian, but still want to be coached?

I welcome people of all beliefs and cultural backgrounds. Just know that I coach with a two-fold foundational conviction that each person, you included, is created by a unique and singular act of God – and for no other reason than so He can love us and that we can love Him in return.

And secondly, that same God in the person of Jesus Christ suffered a painful and agonizing death upon the Cross so that each of us can, at the time of our deaths, get an opportunity to be with Him in heaven for all eternity. Prior to His death, the sin of our first parents made this transition to heaven impossible.

Each person I deal with, coaching or otherwise is treated with the utmost respect and dignity. My faith foundation has me confident that each person, whether they accept this truth or not, has an origin that resides in God’s love for them.

What this means practically is that I will treat you with great respect, I will suggest prayer, and I will suggest that you find ways to identify and respond to God’s grace available to you in this world.

How Long Must I Commit Myself if I Start Working With a Coach?

How does Christian Life Coaching work practically?

We meet by telephone three times per month for 50-minute one-on-one coaching sessions. In each phone session we plan and review your "focus goals" and action areas. In these sessions, you will also receive support and guidance in creating the right attitudes, establishing the best motivations and building the best strategies to attain the goals that you wish to accomplish.

In addition to the phone coaching sessions, we communicate by email as frequently as you like and I encourage periodic ten-minute pick-me-up and/or Victory Phone Calls as warranted. I believe it important to offer you help and support throughout the week. Unlike a therapist, counselor or consultant, I see myself as your coach 24/7!
